Senior Reminders: College Application
- If you are planning on applying to private colleges/universities, make an appointment with your counselor well in advance of your application due dates to make sure you have all of your application materials in order.
- Many private college / university applications are now on the Common Application: check to see if yours are.
- Give at least one month notice to your counselor and teachers when requesting letters of recommendation.
- Remember to send copies of your SAT and/or ACT test scores to all universities to which you apply.
- If applying to CSU: Remember that you can have your SAT scores sent to all CSU campuses by requesting that they be sent to the 'Common Code' : 3594.
- If applying to UC: You only need to send scores to one campus, BUT be sure to indicate to College Board that you want scores to be released to all UC campuses.
- REMEMBER: It is your responsibility to request transcripts. Most private colleges will want an official transcript with the initial application, one for the Midyear Report, and one final transcript. CSU and UC will not require an official transcript until the end of the senior year; if they want one before graduation, they will inform you.
- Transcript Request forms are available in the counseling office for hardcopy transcripts. The first official transcript is free, every transcript thereafter is $5.
- Electronic transcripts are sent for free, with the exception of the final transcript (sent to the college/university you decide to attend), which is $5.
