Orientation | Freshman
Welcome to Terra Linda High School! As we enjoy the final few weeks of our summer recess, the 2009 – 2010 school year is soon upon us. In preparation for the challenging and exciting year ahead, we have scheduled a Freshmen Orientation program for Monday, August 17th at 7:45 a.m.
The Orientation will begin with a general welcome and introduction session in our Amphitheater and will continue with six separate and specific orientation “stations.” Incoming freshmen, divided into groups of approximately 12 students, accompanied by their “Link Crew” orientation leader, will move from station to station (at locations spread throughout campus) and be introduced to a number of campus policies and procedures, the understanding of which is integral to a student’s success at Terra Linda High School.
In a previous communiqué, you were asked to “download” our Orientation Packet from our website (see Student Locker to the left). Those not able to download the packet may pick up a “hard copy” from the Terra Linda High School administration office.
Please note that all incoming students must bring the following completed and signed forms to participate in the orientation:
- Emergency Card
- Free and Reduced Lunch application (if applicable)
- Healthy Kids Survey permission slip
- Student Directory authorization form
- Student Health Alert form (if applicable)
Incoming students will receive information with regard to recommended and required school materials, will receive a copy of our Student/Parent Handbook, be provided information with regard to behavioral expectations, club and athletic participation, and have the opportunity to purchase their gym clothes, yearbook and Associated Student body (ASB) sticker. Students and parents are encouraged to make these purchases in advance via our online web store (see link to TL Student Store to left).
Specifically, once you access the website, “click” on the student store “shopping cart” and login with your permanent ID number. Your user name and student password is pre-set to your student’s first initial and last name (all lower case letters with no spaces).
In addition to our student orientation, scheduled from 7:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., parents of incoming freshmen are invited and strongly encouraged to attend our Frosh Parent Night. The presentation, approximately an hour in length, will be held in our Performance Center, the evening of August 17th, at 7:00 p.m. Parents will have the opportunity to meet the Terra Linda High School administration and counseling teams, be provided information with regard to academic programs and expectations, school safety, tutorial opportunities and online grading and attendance procedures. Further, the Presidents of our numerous parent support and booster groups will be on hand to introduce themselves and discuss the purpose of their respective organizations.
We believe participation in the Freshmen Orientation program will provide students and their families with the information necessary to succeed and thrive at Terra Linda High School. The high school experience is a milestone in a young person’s life. We are both grateful and honored that you have chosen Terra Linda High School to be the facilitator of such an experience.
We look forward to seeing students at Freshmen Orientation on August 17th @ 7:45 a.m. and Parents of incoming freshmen at Frosh Parent Night on August 17th @ 7:00 p.m.
Enjoy those last few weeks of summer and again, welcome to Terra Linda High School!
Sincerely,
Lars Christensen
